Update : Made a fake 5000x2800 version for printing if you want (dl). That said, it looks bad from near, but it should be fine for print !
update2 : An igoogle theme developer made a theme with the picture (Mario World). Feel free to use and share it if you like ! [link] See ya all ! Second Mario take ! I'm feeling i progress and it's a good thing. I really wanted to have a painted "ghibli style" background, and to re-imagine the Mario World from scratch (and not from a screen of the game). I studied a lot of nature painting to have this result, the mood etc... ! I hope you like it^^ ps : He he THX for the DD  But i realize everytime i don't mention it, people believe it's a painting from scratch ! I like just about everything in this one, the trees, the flowers, the bushes, the round hills in the background, the goombas, the venus flytrap thing coming out of the pipe. The single thing I'd even consider complaining about is that the coins look spherical instead of cylindrical. heh...sorry that this is so long...  You're a beast, my friend.

it's as if i'm really playing the game!!!
ok, so what i really like is that, you used great detale in your
picture. I also really like how you made the picture look
soft, and how you made it look foggy in the backround! that's
really well made and put together. What I really like the most
is, how you made the setting of this picture. I love all of it
but, what really cought my eye was how you made it look
more realistic
Well, there is nothing more to say because, let's just say it's
well made and it's most deffinetly BEAUTIFUL!

Im digging the cloudy almost hazy background, like fog, so mario is on a morning romp through the mushroom kingdom eh?
His pose looks fun! And the little goombas are just waiting for it arent they? hehe. I love this, its amazing! Would be nice to know what media/tools you used for it
I also love the tones, shading and light effects, such as the pipes, and the coins! The whole look of it reminds me a little of a more realistic mario game.. unlike its traditional counterpart, this is a nice blend of nice realistic world colours, i love it!
